One of the more common questions that I receive on a regular basis is: “what are the best job sites?” My first response to them is to ask what their job search strategy is in general. If your search strategy is soley based on job search sites then you need a better strategy. Statistics tell us that less than 15% of job seekers find their job through a job search site. I am not saying that you should not pay attention to the job sites. It just shouldn’t be your only hope. In my experience, here are the best job sites.
1. SimplyHired.com – Yes, this is a job board aggregator for the most part, but I have found it to be a very reliable one. As a Recruiter, I have become aware of new job openings that I did not know existed just by keeping an eye on simplyhired.com. There are many advanced search tools that many people do not know exist that can help you in your job search. You can even set up an email alert that will email you anytime there are new job openings that find your search criteria.
2. CareerBuilder.com – In my opinion, they are the best of the big boys. They have the best jobs and the widest range of employers that use them. From a recruiter’s perspective they yield the best candidates over the others. This is why I think many employers prefer to post jobs here.
3. Indeed.com – This is another favorite of mine. They do one of the best jobs of finding jobs listed on corporate websites and pulling them into their jobs database. You would be surprised at how many companies only advertise on their own website.
4. ExecutiveSearchOnline.com – If you earn over $80,000+ then this is a site made for you. There is nothing more frustrating then having to sift through 1,000 of job openings that aren’t even in the ballpark to the expertise nor salary requirements that you are looking for. This site helps you to simplify the process for those that make a high income.
While there are many more good job search sites that we could talk about, I think these are some of my personal favorites. Visit each of them, do some searching and see if you can begin to uncover those hidden jobs out there.
Would love to hear your thoughts about the question: What are the best job sites?
