Job Search Secret #10: How to Tweet Your Way to a New Job Using Twitter

by Jonathan on 7:39 pm

Well, you would probably have to have your head stuck in the sand to say you have never heard of twitter these days! Truthfully, I think Twitter is still "under development" and still evolving as we speak. That being said, I still think you should add this to your list when it comes to searching for a new job.

Statistics say that over 50% of the people who sign up for Twitter never come back a month after signing up. Why is this? I think there are two reasons:

1. Understanding the validity of Twitter. Can it add value and be helpful to me? Twitter started as a social platform for people to let other friends know what they are up to. So, once people join and they see a bunch of random, unimportant conversations taking place they wonder if it will be beneficial for them.

2. Knowing how to use Twitter . They see all the @ # and other signs and it seems like there is a Klingon language to learn. So, since it doesn’t feel natural they get frustrated and leave. I will admit when you first begin to use Twitter, it does feel like a big party with lots of conversations and you are wondering if you will ever fit in.

Now you say, "What a minute, I thought you were for Twitter?" I am for the foundation that Twitter stands on. True networking is when you get in the way of numerous conversations. That is how you end up "in the know."

One of my basic philosophies: You need to be where the conversations are happening (and the traffic when it comes to the web).

The beautiful thing about Twitter is that there are new websites and programs that are coming on board daily that will help you to filter the conversations happening on Twitter. Watch the short video above to learn about some of the best techniques that are out there right now on Twitter that can help you filter the conversations and discover the hidden job opportunities out there.

Don’t forget we are counting down to my #1 Job Search Secret for uncovering the hidden job market (to be launched on August 1st).
